Lords Condemn UK Government’s Delay On FOBT Reform

Peers on Tuesday condemned delays in the cut to the maximum stake on UK bookmakers’ fixed-odds betting terminals (FOBTs), citing "puzzlement and dismay” over the hold up.

A former Conservative Cabinet minister and the Bishop of St Albans were among those who hit out at perceived delays in enforcing the decision made earlier this year to cut stakes from £100 to just £2.

When the decision was originally announced, ministers said they believed it could be brought into force in 9-12 months.
