A portfolio shuffle in the UK government has unexpectedly seen the member of parliament in charge of arts, heritage and tourism add gambling to her portfolio, to match her current concentrations on libraries, museums and "cultural diplomacy".
The move by the new Boris Johnson government to name Rebecca Pow of the Taunton Deane constituency to front gambling policy for his administration goes against years of tradition in which the minister in charge of sport handles British gambling and racing issues.
