Lesniak Launches New Jersey’s Nuclear Option Bill On Sports Betting

Anticipating the U.S. Supreme Court will deny New Jersey’s latest appeal next week, Senator Ray Lesniak decided not to wait and planned to introduce on Thursday the so-called “nuclear option” bill which would essentially abolish the state’s role in restricting sports betting.

“This is the last card I have left, and I decided to play it,” said Lesniak, a Democrat who will retire from the New Jersey state Senate at the end of the year.

“I want to send an indirect message to the Supreme Court, and I want to send a direct message to the NFL (National Football League).”
