LeoVegas has been handed what is a pivotal first penalty for breaching Italy’s advertising ban — a decision that could trigger dramatic legal challenges to the controversial decree.
Italian watchdog AGCOM fined Stockholm-listed LeoVegas €50,000 last month for three TV commercials on the "Winga TV — Sky 237" channel broadcast at 1am, 2am and 3am on November 3, 2018.
The channel, which was shut down on December 14, 2018, was dedicated exclusively to games run by LeoVegas.
Italy’s controversial "Dignity Decree" was passed into law at the behest of Five Star leader Luigi Di Maio in Summer 2018.
