A leaked draft of the new German interstate treaty would impose a €1,000 monthly spending limit on online sports betting and massively restrict in-play betting, say newspaper reports.
Daily newspaper Bild claims to have gained access to a draft version of the new interstate treaty currently being considered by the prime ministers of Germany’s 16 states.
Temporary rules covering the licensing of online sports betting came into effect at the start of this year, but will expire in Summer 2021. Well before that date, German regional governments will need to have agreed a new set of gambling regulations or risk falling back into a state of online deregulation.
According to Bild, the leaked draft includes strict limits on sports betting.
