Key Gambling States Prepare To Elect Governors

The gambling industry likes to hedge its bets in elections but that does not mean casino executives will not be closely monitoring at least four gubernatorial campaigns this year that could have an impact on future expansion of gaming operations.

In Nevada, attorney general Adam Laxalt is the frontrunner for the Republican nomination and his Democratic opponent is likely to be either Steve Sisolak, chairman of the Clark County Commission in Las Vegas, or Christina (Chris) Giunchigliani, who was born in Lucca, Italy, and is also a member of the commission.
