Japan's Addiction Plan Set To Weigh On Pachinko, Sports Betting

Cabinet approval of a broad package of addiction countermeasures for non-casino gaming is set to transform Japan from a nation living in denial of problem gambling to a jurisdiction with one of the most coordinated responses in the world.

The Abe administration approved draft rules countering addiction in pachinko and publicly administered sports gambling that were mandated by last year’s Gambling Addiction Countermeasures Bill at a Cabinet meeting in Tokyo on Friday.
