Italian online gambling revenue grew by 25.3 percent year-on-year to €537m in the second quarter, clearing €1bn in the first half of the year for the first time, despite a swathe of coronavirus-induced sporting cancellations.
A second successive quarter of 25 percent-plus growth, following expansion of 13.6 percent in calendar 2019, was achieved amid coronavirus-induced disruption to both betting menus and traditional working practices, as well as a total gambling advertising ban which had yet to be fully implemented in the same period of 2019.
