Italian Regulator Debuts Self-Exclusion System As Market Climbs Sharply

Italy’s gambling regulator has rolled out a wide ranging online self-exclusion system, as it reveals that revenue for the sector soared nearly 30 percent during 2017.

Regulator Agenzia delle Dogane and Monopoli (ADM), along with its state-owned IT partner Sogei, announced the creation a “unique self-exclusion register” (USR) during a presentation last week.

The system, which is now live, will enable players to bar themselves from all internet gambling operators licensed in Italy by completing a single online form, removing the need for a problem gambler to make multiple requests to different sites. An application to self-exclude can be made to any individual operator or directly to the regulator.
