ISPs Bristle At French Watchdog’s Enforcement Tactics

French online gaming regulator Arjel stepped up its efforts against unlicensed operators, Betfred, Stan James and Stryyke, this week when it took seven French Internet Service Providers to court to block access to the gaming sites.The case, which was heard in the Tribunal de Grande Instance de Paris on Tuesday, is being seen as a key test of the new gambling legislation in France, and in particular of how Arjel will ring fence the licensed market in France and prevent unlicensed remote gaming companies from operating.

A spokesperson for Orange, one of the ISPs involved in the case, told GamblingCompliance: “We have no problem with the law, but we do not want to be the first ones to have to do something about these websites.
