Ireland’s national lottery operator has lobbied the government to introduce a ban on offshore betting on lottery games.
Premier Lotteries Ireland and its consultants met a number of ministers to urge them to introduce “urgent, legislative change” after claiming that a regulatory loophole allowing offshore companies to bet on the Irish National Lottery was an “escalating threat” to its good cause fund, which was worth €225m to charities last year.
