Iowa regulators and casinos say they are targeting an early-to-mid August sports-betting launch after legislation received the governor’s signature.
Governor Kim Reynolds signed Senate File 617 on Monday, which permits the state’s 19 casinos and racinos to offer land-based and mobile sports betting.
"Governor Reynolds believes that legalizing sports betting will bring this practice out of an unregulated black market,” said Pat Garrett, a spokesman for the governor’s office. “This law will regulate, tax, and police sports betting in a safe and responsible way."
