Indiana Lottery Privatisation On Hold

Governor Mitch Daniels has deferred his proposal to privatize the Hoosier Lottery for another year The Governor said that he believes lawmakers will are too busy considering property tax reforms to address the leasing proposal.During the last administrative session Daniels proposed leasing the so-called ‘Hoosier lottery’ to a private enterprise and argued that a potential operator would be willing to pay a $1 billion upfront payment plus $200 million in annual payments for a 30-year lease.
 Daniels intended to direct the money towards a life sciences fund and a scholarship program for college students who stay in-state after graduating.
