Momentum for gaming reform in India is shifting from incremental change among states and piecemeal litigation to a national political and legislative campaign, according to the head of the nation's newest gaming lobby group.
Only months old, the non-profit All India Gaming Federation (AIGF) has begun to lobby individual states to join a national legislative push for legalising betting and online gaming.
Key to this process is a decision by Law Commission of India chairman Justice Balbir Singh Chauhan to commission the AIGF to produce a white paper on sports betting and more general gaming reform by the end of April.
