The Illinois Lottery is poised to enter the sports-betting market with a four-year pilot program that could be altered significantly later this month by the state legislature.
A provision in the massive new gambling expansion law in Illinois authorizes the rollout of 2,500 lottery-operated sports-betting kiosks in each of the first two years of the pilot program for a total of 5,000 kiosks at retail locations where lottery tickets already are sold.
But that is not enough, according to Chicago gaming attorney Cory Aronovitz.
