The UK gambling industry must forge a realistic response to the incoming review of the 2005 Gambling Act or face draconian measures from politicians who want to eradicate it, the former deputy leader of the Labour Party has warned.
Opening the 2020 ICE VOX conference, Tom Watson, who before his shock decision to quit parliament was its most prominent gambling reform advocate, said the industry needs to be certain it is aware of the scale of the challenge it faces in the UK amid growing political negativity.
In the December 2019 UK general election, every major party promised a Gambling Act review.
