House Republican Readying Internet Gambling Bill

Rep. John Campbell, a California Republican, plans to introduce a bill this year to legalize Internet gambling in the United States and Rep. Barney Frank of Massachusetts will be the bill’s leading Democratic co-sponsor, according to Campbell’s spokesman.

“I’m not sure when the bill will be introduced, but this will be a priority for the congressman this year,” Campbell spokesman Chris Bognanno said Wednesday.

Campbell’s announcement ensures the battle to legalize Internet gambling will continue this year in Congress even though Republicans wrested control of the House from Democrats in last November’s election.
