Two Dutch gambling monopolies are calling for all unlicensed online operators to withdraw from the market, now that a key coalition agreement holding up licensing legislation has been reached.
The chief executives of Holland Casino and the Dutch Lottery (Nederlandse Loterij) have called for a “blackout” period before licences are granted, with penalties for those who do not stop offering gambling to Dutch customers.
“If you accept Dutch players today, I don’t think you’re very honest,” said Erwin van Lambaart, CEO of state-owned Holland Casino, which currently has a monopoly over land-based table games.
