New statistics published by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) indicate that April’s increase in UK remote gaming duty from 15 to 21 percent has successfully mitigated the impact to the Treasury of a reduction in maximum fixed-odds betting terminal (FOBT) stakes to £2.
According to HMRC’s latest bi-annual "UK Betting and Gaming Statistics" report, remote gaming duty (RGD) receipts climbed £63.4m, or 47.4 percent, year-on-year to £194.1m in the third quarter of 2019, offsetting an equivalent £61.1m, or 33.3 percent, decline in machine games duty (MGD) to £122.4m.
