Greece’s gambling watchdog has voted to eliminate Hard Rock International from the tender to build an integrated resort casino at the Hellenikon site in southern Athens, leaving just one other bidder in the race.
In a meeting on Tuesday afternoon, members of the Hellenic Gaming Commission (HGC) decided unanimously that only Mohegan Entertainment with its bidding partner, GEK Terna, should pass to the next stage of the tender to build a casino on the site of Athens’ former airport.
The members of the Gambling Committee (EEEP) approved the report of the Greek Casino Competition Committee regarding the legal submissions of the candidates and accepted their recommendation for the exclusion of Hard Rock International from the final stage of the tender.
