GVC Holdings dismissed as "speculation" a media report which floated what it called a "theory" that a UK government investigation into its disposal of its former Turkey-focused unit is linked to the collapsed Wirecard payments processor.
GVC shares fell 4.3 percent to 683p per share on Thursday after The Times suggested there may be a link between Wirecard and an HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) investigation into "potential corporate offending" connected with GVC's former Turkey-facing business unit, which it disposed of in December 2017.
