A popular video game now offering its users the chance to play gambling games in a virtual casino could force countries to alter their definitions of what constitutes gambling or, in some jurisdictions, face down the pervasive issue of social casinos for the first time.
The free-to-download Diamond Casino & Resort update for GTA V online, which was published by Rockstar Games on July 23, allows Grand Theft Auto (GTA) players to use virtual chips, which can be purchased using in-game currency, for roulette, blackjack, three card poker and slot machines in a casino in a suburb of the fictional city of San Andreas.
