Finance minister Christos Staikouras has said the country’s newly approved online gambling law will finally end an uneasy period of temporary online licensing and is expected to net the government €80m in fees.
A new law that will issue permanent licences to online gambling operators was voted through the Greek parliament by 165 votes to 122 on Thursday, as a part of a 1,000-page omnibus bill designed to stimulate investment in Greece.
