Confirmation that German state lotteries have renewed plans to introduce a competitor to the EuroMillions game alongside other national lottery companies has been met with surprise from observers who question how the introduction of €100m jackpot draws can possibly be justified under Germany’s new Interstate Gambling Treaty. A spokesman for German state lottery grouping Deutscher Lotto-und Totoblock has confirmed that the group has renewed talks about starting a competitor to the EuroMillions lottery alongside lottery companies from other EU Member States. “It is true that several European lottery operators are considering starting a jackpot-oriented game,” the spokesman said.
