German Parliament Readies Costly Sports-Betting Bill

Germany’s parliament is poised to pass a draft online sports betting bill today or tomorrow that would tax turnover and which could cost Bwin.Party Digital Entertainment €50m (£40m), according to one analyst.

The proposed bill, cleared by the Bundestag’s Finance Committee yesterday, would set a country-wide tax rate of 5 percent on sports bets and a limit of 20 licences.
