Gambling Act 2005 – The Commission’s Approach To Compliance And Enforcement

At this point, the attitude of the Gambling Commission towards Compliance and Enforcement is hard to predict.

During the planning and consultation process, the DCMS and the Commission have had to balance the need to present itself to the industry as a reasonable and balanced regulator with the political forces which need to see a determined and effective program to tackle problem gambling and crime in the industry.

The outcome of these potentially conflicting drivers will emerge over the coming months as the Commission begin to look at applications under the new Act, and continue to build their inspection and enforcement capability and culture.
