France's newly-reconstituted gambling regulator, Autorité nationale des jeux (ANJ), hopes to work with gamblers in a step that resembles the UK's current drive towards "experts by experience".
ANJ president Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin said on Wednesday that the regulator expects to help operators with compliance and offer "dialogue and consultation" with licensees, balanced with tough enforcement.
But one goal is to work with players, in the belief that they are in touch with how gambling addiction occurs, she said.
