Fledgling Social Gaming Buys Yet To Prove Their Worth, Say Analysts

Six months after International Game Technology agreed to spend as much as $500m to acquire a top-performing social casino gaming asset, analysts in the United States and Europe remain mixed on whether gambling businesses will be able to unlock the explosive growth potential of social gaming.

Although some analysts believe that social games modeled after gambling games like slot machines or poker could contribute significantly to an operator’s top and bottom lines, respectively, others believe that it is too soon to tell how well or even whether those games will perform.
