The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board’s (PGCB) auction for the first of five remaining mini-casino licenses lasted less than 60 seconds on Wednesday after the board received no bids.
Shortly after 10:00am, Douglas Sherman, PGCB’s chief counsel, stood next to a table with a yellow box labeled “Bids,” and a red box labeled “Locations.” Those gaming companies eligible to participate were invited to drop an envelope into each box before the auction began.
Sherman then asked if “everyone who is eligible to participate in the auction and who desires to place a bid today provided their bid envelopes … and if you haven’t done so to please do so immediately.”
After a brief pause, Sherman then announced: “Having received no responses, this auction is canceled.”
