First Woman To Lead Nevada Gaming Control Board Faces Uncertain Future

Becky Harris made history in January when she became the first woman to chair the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB), but her tenure at the NGCB may be relatively short depending on the outcome of the governor’s race in November.

If Democrat Steve Sisolak wins the governor’s race in Nevada, he may decide to replace Harris who was appointed in January by Republican Governor Brian Sandoval. 

Sisolak is in a close race with Republican Adam Laxalt, who is the state’s attorney general and likely more inclined to keep Harris as the NGCB’s chair if he becomes governor.

Harris said she does not resent the fact that her job could hinge on the governor’s race.
