Veikkaus will slash the number of slot machines in Finland in response to legislative dictates, according to its chief executive, as pressure grows against the devices.
The move comes linked to legislative requirements to add identification verification technology to slot machines by 2022.
Chief executive Olli Sarekoski said he thought the step would inhibit demand.
"Gambling will decrease and there won't be the same need for slot machines," Sarekoski told the Kauppalehti newspaper this week.
