Lawmakers in Nebraska, who believe legalizing fantasy sports would expand gambling, have filibustered a bill that would designate how online fantasy contest operators would be licensed and regulated in the state.
Legislative Bill 469 failed to gain enough support in the Senate and was sent back to the General Affairs Committee. As of Friday, no vote had been scheduled.
The 11-page bill, known as the Fantasy Contests Act, will only come back to the Senate if its sponsor, Republican state Senator Tyson Larson, can assure Republican Speaker Jim Scheer that he has the 33 votes to overcome a filibuster.
