FDJ Privatisation Moves Forward Despite Opposition

The French government’s plans to privatise its national lottery, Française des Jeux (FDJ), have moved a step closer to fruition after the Business Growth and Transformation Action Plan (PACTE) bill was formally adopted by parliament.

Parliament voted 147 to 50 in favour of adopting PACTE on April 11.

However, the bill is still subject to a possible review by the country’s Constitutional Court.

If the court approves the bill or chooses not to review it, then it will come into effect within the next six weeks, according to Frédéric Deroin, the head of European, public and regulatory affairs at FDJ.
