Fate Of Fourth Arkansas Casino License Tied Up In Court

A lawsuit filed by Gulfside Casino Partnership challenging the rejection of a casino application by Arkansas gaming regulators was returned to a Pulaski County courtroom after the presiding judge ruled he was the wrong judge to hear the case.

Fifth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Bill Pearson ruled late Monday that Pope County was not the proper place to hear the case filed by Gulfside Casino Partnership against the Arkansas Racing Commission (ARC) and the state's Department of Finance and Administration.

Gulfside filed the lawsuit on August 15, the same day the ARC denied an appeal from the group to reverse a denial of its application in May for a Pope County casino license. Gulfside currently operates Island View Casino Resort in Gulfport, Mississippi.
