Fantasy Sports Advocates Forced To Play Defense As Well As Offense

New bills in Illinois and Texas are proposing to amend their states’ laws regarding fantasy sports by imposing more formal regulatory requirements on operators.

New legislation filed last week by Illinois Representative Michael Zalewski would create a new statute, the Daily Fantasy Sports Regulation Act.

Although currently just a shell measure with little detail beyond its title, the author said he hopes the bill will, among other things, help protect fantasy sports operators from unwanted lawsuits.
