Fahrenkopf: Congress Running Out Of Time On Internet Gambling

Unless Congress acts this year, the legalization and regulation of Internet gambling in the United States is unlikely to occur in the near future, according to American Gaming Association President and Chief Executive Officer Frank Fahrenkopf.

Fahrenkopf said he does not anticipate Congress will consider Internet gambling legislation until after the Nov. 2 election when members return for a “lame duck” session which includes lawmakers who have been defeated or retired.

The lame duck session is expected to begin about a week after the election and could last until Christmas, Fahrenkopf said.
