EXCLUSIVE: NBA To Pursue Sports-Betting Strategy On Parallel Tracks In 2019

Dan Spillane, senior vice president of league governance and policy for the National Basketball Association (NBA) says his league will pursue a two-pronged approach on sports betting in 2019, one that will include working with casinos and one that will not.

Spillane referred to the strategy as “parallel tracks.”

“We have our commercial track where we’re engaging with the gaming industry,” Spillane told GamblingCompliance in an exclusive interview this week at the league’s headquarters in New York City.

An example is the multi-year transaction announced in July between the NBA and MGM Resorts International.
