European Court Rules Against Blacklisting In Hungary

The Court of Justice of the European Union has ruled that national authorities cannot impose administrative sanctions on operators where national gambling legislation infringes EU law.

The high-profile case was brought by Kindred (formerly Unibet) and dates back to 2014, when the Hungarian tax authority opted to blacklist two of Unibet’s local language websites and levy a fine against the operator for offering online games without holding the necessary licence.
