The European Commission has dropped all enforcement proceedings related to gambling in an effort to be more “strategic” in the way it enforces EU law.
An array of European countries were either under caution or the subject of formal infringement proceedings by the commission over concerns that their gambling legislation violated EU free trade principles.
The commission’s plans to move on from all gambling complaints were revealed last week, and approved today by the EU’s College of Commissioners.
