EU Challenges Germany Over Plans To Prohibit Internet Gambling

The European Commission last night raised objection to the draft German Interstate Lotteries Treaty that was notified to the Commission in 2006. Were it ever signed into German law, the Treaty would effectively prohibit all internet gambling in Germany and reinforce the gambling monopolies of the state-controlled operators cartelized in the Deutsche Lotto- und Totoblock.
