Estonia Calm But Latvian Gambling Scene 'On Fire' With Restrictions

The Latvian gambling scene is “on fire”, although not in a good way, while nearby Estonia is happy not to have become the next Malta.

Politicians in Latvia are starting to view gambling not as entertainment but only a potential source of addiction, according to its chief regulator.

Its capital city of Riga is two years into a five-year plan to shut all its gambling venues except those in four- and five-star hotels and Daugavpils, its second-largest city, is poised to follow.
