A controversial bidding process for seven new casino licenses in Chile has narrowed into a showdown between just two companies — Santiago-listed Enjoy and the Sun Dreams venture of South Africa’s Sun International.
Sun Dreams and Enjoy will compete directly against each other for the licenses of at least four of the seven Chilean casinos that pre-date a 2005 casino expansion law, according to offers submitted during a series of public hearings over the past two weeks.
In arguably the most high-profile of the contests, Enjoy submitted a bid last week to retain its casino operation in the prominent beach-resort city of Viña del Mar, near Valparaiso.
