Far-reaching measures taken to combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus have forced the closure of Latvia's online and land-based gambling industries, but confusion in the wording of the regulations has left online operators scrambling to continue their businesses.
Under a new law passed late last week, the Latvian parliament outlawed all casino activities in the country both online and offline until at least April 14, apparently to protect its citizens from gambling during the coronavirus outbreak.
The President approved the law on Saturday and it entered into force on Sunday.
