ECJ Criticises OPAP Monopoly, Fuels Greek Gambling Challenges

Europe’s top court has “opened doors and windows” for companies to challenge Greece’s gambling laws with its ruling that OPAP’s gambling monopoly violates EU law without tighter controls, experts said.

Judges at the European Court of Justice criticised the current version of Greece's monopoly on Thursday in a challenge by UK-based betting operators Stanleybet, William Hill and Sportingbet.
