Duterte Gives Tax-Delinquent POGOs Three Days To Pay

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has issued a three-day deadline to tax-delinquent online gaming operators to register with the authorities and pay back taxes.

In an interview with CNN Philippines on Friday, Duterte delivered a brief but customarily violent diatribe against non-compliant Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) licensees, warning them to settle accounts with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) or suffer harsh consequences.

POGOs “are now ordered to register with the BIR and get a tag number. You had better settle your liabilities or else I’ll turn you into pugo [quails],” he said, punning on the POGO acronym.
