Dutch Coalition Will Demand Online Licensees Establish Physical Presence

Following a record 208 days of negotiations, the new Dutch government has published a coalition agreement which demands online gambling operators establish some form of local presence in the Netherlands to be eligible for a licence.

The as-yet unspecified geographical requirement has already triggered concerns that online operators will need to open a physical office in the Netherlands, creating new tax liabilities and potentially falling foul of European Union law.
