In the UK, Spain, Ireland and the Netherlands, the initials DFS stand for a furniture chain, not daily fantasy sports, a DraftKings executive has said.
That confusion demonstrates just part of the educational and lobbying challenge DFS companies face if they are to expand in Europe, according to DraftKings chief international officer Jeffrey Haas.
With its proposed merger with rival FanDuel collapsing in July following opposition from US competition regulators, DraftKings is looking to expand in Europe, as are a handful of home-grown European companies.
