The decision by the U.S. Supreme Court on whether to overturn the federal ban on sports betting could have a serious impact on how states go about regulating both industries in the future, according to consultants, legal analysts and daily fantasy sports (DFS) advocates.
While advocates of DFS continue to work with state legislators on laws to regulate fantasy games, there are experts who argue that people might favor single-game betting over the complexities of fantasy sports contests should wagering become more widely available.
