DerbyWars To Comply With Interstate Horseracing Act, Settles With Stronach Group

The owners of DerbyWars will pay the Stronach Group $500,000 over the next year as part of a settlement that ends almost two years of litigation filed by the racetrack operator against the handicapping group.

Stronach Group racetracks, including Santa Anita Park, Gulfstream Park and Laurel Park, sued Horse Racing Labs, which operates DerbyWars, in December 2015, alleging violations of the Interstate Horseracing Act and of the Racketeering Influence and Corruption Act (RICO).

The suit also alleged violations of California’s Unfair Competition Law.

“We are very pleased with the outcome of this case,” said Scott Daruty, Stronach’s executive vice president of content and media.
