Denmark hopes to tap into rising industry interest in fantasy sports as the first European country to offer a specific fantasy licence, but the current market leader is unconvinced by the plans.
Companies may be able to apply for the licence later this year if a government bill is approved by parliament before the summer.
The new set-up for fantasy sports, known as “manager games” in Denmark, would be less restrictive than the current one-year licence and less expensive than a full betting permit.
